We had to say goodbye to Oscar’s older dog brother, Liam, yesterday. He passed away very unexpectedly yesterday morning, and my heart is so broken. Although it is difficult, I wanted to write a tribute to Liam for all of those who loved him.
Liam, you were always a happy and loving dog, so true up until the very end. You were eager to wake up every morning, tail wagging and a hop in your step, and met each day with so much joy. I often wished I could have seen the world through your eyes. I will so deeply miss those beautiful, gentle eyes that looked at us as if the only thing you needed in the world was our love.
When I brought you home for the first time, I had no idea what a loving, calm, gentle, and patient friend you would become. In tough times, you were always by my side comforting me and letting me hug you. More than anything, I will miss your quiet, comforting presence, always there when I needed you.
You were a wonderfully simple dog and wanted nothing more than to enjoy the small pleasures in life. You loved just being near people or relaxing outside in the sunshine. Every morning, you looked forward to sitting in the sun spot, and that’s how I hope to remember you.
I’m not ready to say goodbye, but I know I have to. I hope you know how much you were loved and how much you will be missed every single day. My heart is so broken to not have you by my side, but I know how lucky I was to have you in my life and now in my heart forever. We love you, Liam, and we will miss you deeply.
